Online Marketing with Twitter
Twitter – for those of you who don’t know yet – is a web service for something called “microblogging”: you can send out messages to the world or just your followers in a private manner, and they only are as long as an SMS (txt). It is one of the most talked about social web applications of 2008, and there seems to be no stopping it.
Can’t stop growing…
Apparently, Twitter grew 752 % last year, with 4.4 million unique visitors in December 08. That is a fair bit. We at FilmTiki are all Twitterer’s – we’ve only just recently amalgamated all our private tweets into one joint account, where you can read updates from team FilmTiki. Get in touch with us and follow FilmTiki on Twitter.
Moviemakers – let’s tweet!
For you as a filmmaker (or someone working in film), Twitter can be a really useful tool to stay in touch with your (potential) audiences, and tweet (that’s what sending messages on Twitter is called) your thoughts, keeping a production diary, or even making polls amongst your audience or asking them for help (with locations for instance…). And even if you are not planning on using it right now, if you have a good idea for an account name, secure your Twitter name. Many brands are facing Twitter name squatters, so securing a good name now is definitely worth it.
