FilmTiki in the Press

Since the launch of FilmTiki there has been quite a bit of press coverage on our project.
Especially in Austria, the media picked up our idea and introduced FilmTiki to a broader audience. Here’s a short overview:

derStandard.at (2009/01/27), German
Radio FM4 (2009/02/05), English
ORF futurezone (2009/02/11), German
Wirtschaftsblatt (2009/02/20), German

Also some international media featured our ambitious web-project for filmmakers, [...]

Good news

The blackout (our blog was blacked out for all of the 23rd February, NZ time) seems to have had an effect. According to the New Zealand Herald (amonst others) the controvercial law (basically stating that ISPs have to disconnect internet service to customers who are alleged with sharing copyright protected content) has been delayed until [...]

New Zealand Copyright Law – joining the protest

There is something happening in New Zealand, that could potentially set a precedence in this sphere for more countries. And we don’t want that. I usually don’t do a massive citation, but ReadWriteWeb explained the situation so well that I will just do it this time:
Social networks are making it increasingly easy to organize and [...]

FilmTiki at the Berlinale Talent Campus

Today i entered the Talent Campus to watch the interview with German director Tom Tykwer and was asked to show my accreditation badge at the entrance. I showed them my badge for the EFM, which is the industry marketplace at the Berlinale; the place where producers, directors, film commissions, funding agencies and press meet, the [...]

Berlinale ticket sales – madness!

I have been suspecting this. Look at this picture – a typical queue in front of the Berlinale Ticket counter:

queue at the Berlinale counter

People are waiting for hours; they even camp there a couple of hours or more before the ticket counter opens. We were lucky to score the tickets we did – even with [...]

Berlinale movie reviews

Yesterday Matthew and I managed to catch two films, which is almost a miracle at this festival. Tickets are very limited, as is time, and luckily we were keen enough to get up early to get our tickets for Monday on Sunday morning.
We caught the first screening ever of the still unfinished The Shock Doctrine, [...]

Some of the TOP 5 Movie Competitions in 2009

A few weeks ago we blogged about YouTube’s Project: Direct and other movie competitions. YouTube’s winning short film ¡Perfecto! from director H. Blake Edwards got more than 150.000 views so far and has been screened during the Sundance Film Festival 2009.
Movie Competitions: first steps for your career
There are numerous competitions and awards this year, which [...]

Blog Rage

Sally Potter’s new film “Rage” will have its premiere at the Berlinale this Sunday. I wasn’t actually planning to see it until I stumbled across Sally Potter’s blog. What she said in her latest post intrigued me:
I suspect RAGE may be seen as a film for lean times.
It’s certainly ‘no waste’ filmmaking: low-budget and definitely [...]

Iris at the Berlinale, Day 1

It was a rather quiet day today at the EFM. I guess everybody is still arriving and trying to find their way around. Berlin is a huge city, and though the Berlinale venues are relatively close together, one ends up walking quite a lot between locations.
I caught up with my dear friend Eskil Roekke from [...]

FilmTiki at the Berlinale 09

Today is the first day of the 59th Berlinale. I will be here at the European Film Market from this afternoon until 15th February; Matthew, Wolfgang and Wolfi are joining me during the week as well. We’ll be out and about every day – so if you are around and want to have a chat [...]
